Oakville Chiropractor Treatment on Pinched Nerves happen on a daily basis. From car accidents and whiplash to baby seats and sciatica we have you covered for all types of pinched nerve injuries. Our team of Chiropractors has had a huge influx of patients complaining about severe chronic pain behind their shoulder blades or an inch or two from their spine on one side of their body. In most cases this is diagnosed as a rib subluxation and can be effectively treated in 8 – 12 visits.
What is a Rib Subluxation
Rib subluxation are almost always misdiagnosed by the medical doctors in Oakville. Too many times we get patients complaining of chronic mid back, under the shoulder pain that wraps around to the front of their chest or stomach. Some of these patients have been suffering for months or even years. X-rays, MRI, blood work, days of work for the cardiologist just to come back with negative results. All this pain to have been caused by a misdiagnosed subluxated rib.
If you are suffering from pain, about an inch or so off one side of your spine that you can’t seem to press, pull, or stretch is most likely a problem with your rib head. Welding, vacuuming, sneezing, and yard duties are the major causes. However, in this computer driven society the biggest problem we find at our clinic is a tight and restricted thoracic spine. This causes the rib heads to over compensate in ways they are not meant to work due to the tightness of the mid back. Oakville Treatment for Rib Subluxations
At our Oakville chiropractor clinic Dr. Steve Knighton has treated 1000’s of patients with rib subluxations or slipping rib syndrome. Some of these patients have been dealing with this issue for more that a decade. Most have been misdiagnosed by numerous medical professionals.
After the diagnosis of a RIB SUBLUXATION is given, treatment occurs in three steps:
- Suction IFC and heat on the injured area of the rib/spine: The IFC or inferential current therapy is applied via vacuum electrodes and not sticky patches like most clinics. This will feel like a deep massage and help with pain control ,and loosen up the tissue around the rib and spine. We will also apply some heat to the area to promote further blood flow and help start the healing process.
- Shockwave Therapy for Rib Subluxations: Shockwave is a pneumatic gun that projects a bullet 15 x a seconds against an applicator head. We usually “hit” the patient between 800 and 1200 times around the area of pain. This is done within the patients pain tolerances and is needed for optimal results. The shockwave therapy not only breaks down adhesion’s and scar tissue surrounding a stuck rib, but also allows the body to build new blood vessels allowing for maximized healing over a longer period of time.
- Chiropractic Rib Adjustment: All the work done before this moment was used to loosen the injured area up to allow for a better adjustment. Dr. Steve could just rush you in and out, and try to adjust your rib 100 times with minimal success, but he feels the added treatment of IFC, HEAT, and SHOCKWAVE work too good not to use in ALL rib subluxation cases. For the rib adjustment, our Oakville chiropractor will most likely have you lie on your back with their hand behind the injured area of your spine and give you a “big hug” and a small push. If the rib moves, patients will feel instant relieve. Most Rib subluxations take 4 to 8 visits to get the patient out of pain and 8 to 16 visits to get the function of the mid-back and rib area back to “normal”. If needed, our chiropractors will also adjust your neck and thoracic spine to help the healing process.
Thoracic Spine Treatment
Some patients enter our clinic with what we think is a Rib Subluxation but it turns out they have your “basic” mid back pain or thoracic spine pain. This is usually a circumstance of working on the computer too much or the more common Text Neck. Although similar to rib subluxation treatment, thoracic spine treatment is more focused on the spine and correcting posture. Treatment for Thoracic Spine pain can be seen in the video below.
Know Your Pain
Many diseases and medical conditions can mask themselves as pain in the arms, shoulders, or legs such as heart attacks, stroke, or arthritis. Consult with your medical professional to ensure the pain you are experiencing isn’t something more dangerous or life threatening.
